Welcome back!

I find parents to be the easiest students to teach. I say this because they know first hand what it is like to raise a child. It may seem to start out slow, but with each new day brings with it new discoveries. One day they discover their hands and the next day it might be their feet. First they discover these strange new things, then they learn how to use them. Before you know it, they are on the move. It is surprising just how fast they can move on their hands and knees.

The first thing new parents learn during this time is that learning to walk requires a lot of falling down. We try to help of course, to minimize the falling down, but toddlers won’t wait for us. They have places to go and things they want to get into. They have new discoveries to make, mostly things that they are not supposed to have. All it takes is a little determination and a whole lot of trial and error.

Trial and error. This is how we learn. We learn what works and what does not work through trial and error. This leads to that and on and on it goes. We learn what to expect with every new experience and with every new discovery. As a parent it can be a fun and exciting process to watch and at other times it can be painful and heartbreaking. I say this, because it does not end at them learning to walk and talk, parenting never ends.
